The Xbox app itself is pretty amazing with its huge selection of games, but it is also a kind of mess, sometimes does not run games, sometimes does not run itself, and sometimes has to be logged in twice. There are many ways in which the Xbox PC app may not work, so we decided to concentrate here on the best fixes.
And good news. If you’re a potential Master Chief who’s having a hard time playing Halo: Infinite in Game Pass for PC, we’ve got the fix for you!
Reset the game (Halo Infinite Fix)
It was recently discovered that this patch works for Halo Infinite, and helps those who have found themselves dealing with the Xbox gaming services screen instead of the game menu. If you are faced with the screen below when trying to run Halo Infinite (or another game), then this is the fix for you.

First, open the Xbox app and leave it in the background. Then go to “Apps and Features” (I like to do this by right-clicking Start and then clicking on it from there).
Scroll down until you find Halo Infinite (or the guilty game). Click on it and then on “Advanced Options”.

In the new window, scroll down and click “Reset” and then “Reset” again.

Back in the Xbox app, the game was supposed to disappear from the installed list. Find the game using the search bar and then click “Install”. In fact you will not have to reinstall the game, as you have never deleted it, it will simply “refresh” the installation for the game to run again.
Make sure you are logged in … twice
It’s normal to log in to a gaming platform, but there are two layers to logging in to the Xbox app, and without them, the app will work, but your games will not.
First, you need to sign in to the Xbox app itself. If you have not yet logged in, click on the person icon in the top right corner of the app, click “Sign in” and then enter your details if you do not sign in automatically (or “Switch account” if you are in the wrong account).

Once you sign in to the app and your character image appears in the top right corner, you need to make sure you are logged in to your Microsoft account. Click your icon in the top right corner -> Settings -> Change My Microsoft Store Account, and make sure you’re signed in to the account you use to pay for the Xbox Game Pass.

Now that you’re logged into your Microsoft app and account, you can play your games.
Re-register your Xbox Game Pass to your computer
If the app itself does not work properly, such as by displaying empty boxes that should contain images, displaying a device button instead of a playback for games you have already installed, or other strange things, then you can try re-registering the app.
To do this, tap Win Key, Search powershell
In the Start bar, right-click “Windows Powershell” and then click “Run as administrator”.
In Powershell, enter the following commands:
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml"} Get-AppXPackage | % {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml" -verbose} Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml"}

Reset the Microsoft Store app
Because the Xbox app is inextricably linked to your Microsoft account and the Microsoft Store app, problems with one can lead to problems with the other. A quick fix to reset the Microsoft Store app can also fix the issues with your Xbox app.

to press Win + R, Then enter the command wsreset.exe
. This should reset the Microsoft Store app and possibly fix the issues with your Xbox app.
Synchronize time and region settings
For better or worse (good, mostly bad), the Xbox Game Pass app is deeply tied to your Windows operating system. We’ve seen issues that can cause Microsoft account synchronization, but another major factor of the Xbox app not working is the time settings in Windows 10.
Your time settings may be canceled when the time changes in winter and summer, during an update, or when your computer disconnects from the Internet.
To correct your time settings, right-click the clock in the lower-right corner of the Windows desktop, then click “Adjust Date / Time.”

Make sure the “Automatically set the time” and “Automatically set the time zone” sliders are set to “On”, and then click “Sync now”.
If for some reason your time zone in Windows 10 is not the one you are actually in, turn off “Automatically set time zone” and set the time zone to your current zone.
Your Xbox Game Pass app should be ready by now. The next step in ensuring good game performance is to compare your GPU in Windows 10 and see our graphics card buying guide.
