It’s nice to be able to reply to messages on Facebook Messenger in your own time, but if the other person saw that you read the message, then you can not help but feel that pressure to respond immediately. If you disable reading permissions on Messenger and the other person does not know you have read his message, then you are unfounded! Here’s how to do it.
Disable messaging readings in Messenger (PC)
If you read Messenger messages through Facebook’s website, then in Chrome you can use a plugin called “Social tools“.
Once the plugin is installed, click on its icon to see all the options it has for you. As you can see, it does much more than just disable read permissions on Messenger, and does the same for Instagram and Facebook!

To block read receipts in Messenger, simply click on the gray “Block sending” after “slider below Messenger. While you’re at it, you can also block the typing slider that lets people know when you’re typing, as well as your active status.
Firefox has exactly the same extension, Social tools, Which does the job in exactly the same way.
Disable Reading Certificates in Messenger (Android)
If you have notifications from the Messenger app running (you can check this under app details), you can read your Facebook messages by swiping down from the top of your device’s monitor. It does not matter if it is a short or long message, you can still read it. This reading does not reveal that you have read the message

Another way to do this is to log in to your Messenger app when you are offline, read the message and then mark it as unread. To mark it as unread, long-click the conversation in your Messenger inbox, click the three-line icon, and then tap “Mark as unread.”

Now that you’ve done that, why not find out how to block internet access for specific Android apps. We can also show you how to block sites in all major browsers, Android and iOS.
